Overview
Communication for development has been a significant part
of Cornell University’s program for more than five decades.
Most of the activities associated with this emphasis are located
in the Department
of Communication in the College of Agriculture and Life
Sciences. Those activities include education, training and
research and development, for example: graduate education
on campus for students from the USA and abroad; and short
term training programs abroad associated with international
organizations such as WHO and UNFPA. Research and development
programs in recent years have focused principally on information
and communication technologies (ICT) for development. In addition,
faculty members in the Department have played instrumental
roles in institution-building initiatives in India, Singapore
and the South Pacific, and have undertaken a variety of consulting
assignments for international organizations.
Following are recent initiatives related to communication
and development. To learn more about any one of these, click
