

Developing Leaders and Improving Lives in the World's Developing Countries
Communication for development has been a significant part of Cornell University’s program for more than five decades. Most of the activities associated with this emphasis are located in the Department of Communication in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Those activities include education, training and research and development, for example: graduate education on campus for students from the USA and abroad; and short term training programs abroad associated with international organizations such as WHO and UNFPA. Research and development programs in recent years have focused principally on information and communication technologies (ICT) for development. In addition, faculty members in the Department have played instrumental roles in institution-building initiatives in India, Singapore and the South Pacific, and have undertaken a variety of consulting assignments for international organizations.
