Spring 2007

Assignments and field laboratory activities

1. Reconcile findings from reading assignments and discussions in IARD 402. Identify critical issues for class (and theme group) discussion.

2. Build Cornell-Mexico teams through informal discussions with theme group colleagues and faculty facilitators.

3. Seven class discussions and student-led reports.

4. Submit final topic and brief outline for the written IARD 602 project to your theme group facilitator by 18 January (see example projects from 2006: Erica Phillips, Andrew Leach).

Assignments and on-campus activities

1. Attend 2 sessions/wk (2 hr each) from January 23 through March 15. Attendance will be recorded.

2. Evaluate the field trip. (January 23 and 25 in 134 Morrison Hall)

3. Meet and communicate electronically with theme group members and facilitators (esp., January 25 and at other times) to share progress about each term project and to plan theme group presentations.

4. Invited presentations. Discussion.


5. Consultations, paper due date, and group planning of presentations

  • 13 and 15 February. Individual consultations with faculty facilitators.
  • 20 February. No class.
  • 22 February. Written projects due by 2:30 pm. Theme groups meet separately to plan oral presentations.

6. Oral presentations by theme groups.

  • 27 February. Theme group 1, Cornell team members
  • 1 March. Theme group 1, UADY team members
  • 6 March. Theme group 2, Cornell team members
  • 8 March. Theme group 2, UADY team members
  • 13 March. Integrated Team Group, UV Team members
  • 14 March. Final discussion and (written) critique of IARD 602. Photo presentations by all.
