The M.P.S.-Agriculture degree offered by the graduate field of International Agriculture and Rural Development (IARD) is designed for students from any country who already have some experience working and/or living in low income countries in areas related to rural development and the food system. The flexibility of our program allows it to accomodate interests from a wide variety of disciplines as well as mid career professionals wanting to broaden their ability to critically analyze practices, technologies, approaches, and trends in agriculture and rural development. This program also provides ample opportunities to update skills through courses offered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciencess leading biological and social sciences departments. Degree RequirementsStudents complete a minimum of 30 credits related to their professional interests. Six of the credits are awarded for the required practical project paper that evaluates a students past work experiences or develops a novel program for his or her current employer. Titles of recent project papers include A Feasibility Study on Solar Water Pumping in Southern Sudan and Learning to Manage Plant Diseases with Farmers in Honduras and Nicaragua.
