International Service Learning Alliance

Isla builds upon the organizational capacity-building work of our partner organizations by placing university students and professionals in career-launching global development internships or gap service projects with non-governmental organizations, social enterprises, and other institutions. Isla's philosophy derives from the knowledge that local people, organizations and communities are best equipped to guide development in their communities.
How does it work?

Isla works with local partners to identify organizational needs. Based on these needs, Isla places skilled international interns to execute the scope of work developed by the host organization, thus improving the partner's capacity to serve their beneficiaries and communities, and advance strategic objectives and priorities.
Isla interns improve their skills while helping their host organization improve operations and outcomes. Placing talented people inside humanitarian organizations and social enterprises, Isla creates opportunities for greater global understanding, cooperation, and community service.
Isla also develops and supports customized faculty-led and service-learning group trips that provide first-hand experiences with inclusive sustainable development in the field.

Institute de Formation et de Researche Demographiques (IFORD)

This is an internship program being developed by Dr. Parfait Eloundou-Enyegue in DSOC. The University is based in Cameroon and mainly covers social science topics but has links with various agricultural institutions. Would be a good place to intern and do a senior thesis. French is useful but there are students and programs from several countries.
